Who We Are
Karuna The Compassion was founded in 2009, inspired by the vision of Late Shiv Kumar Singh, a respected teacher and prolific writer. His dream was to build an organization that would provide free education to underprivileged children and empower women by creating opportunities for a better future. Motivated by his ideals, a group of passionate youth came together to turn this vision into reality.
The NGO derives its name from the profound Sanskrit verse:
“कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्रहारम्”
With compassion at its core, Karuna The Compassion started its journey by establishing its first education center in Mukundpur, North West Delhi, with 50 children receiving free education. The initiative soon expanded to include free Spoken English classes for local youth, equipping them with essential skills for a brighter future.
Today, the NGO has grown significantly, working across multiple districts in Delhi-NCR with the support of thousands of dedicated youth volunteers. United by the mission of uplifting society, these volunteers are actively engaged in transforming lives through education, skill development, and community empowerment.
